Why did they decide to cancel MTV's Skins (US Version) ?

I heard from MTV that Skins will not return for a second season but
for what reason? Please don't give me a link to wikipedia or anything
because I have already read it, but I'm still yet baffled about it.
Can someone give me an lucid explanation yet easy to comprehend? =)
